Our little man Hilton spent 6 weeks in the NICU surrounded by some of the most amazing and supportive people I have ever met.
Hilton was born at 32 weeks and is now a healthy and strong 3 month old baby. It was an experience I would never want to do again however I can now say has changed my life for the better.
Our days consisted of my husband dropping me off at the hospital before work, him working all day and then coming to the hospital where our evenings would be spent as a family in the NICU.
Going home and cooking dinner or even grocery shopping became almost a luxury and dragging myself away from my baby during the day would just carry guilt and sadness I could not bare. This is where I am so incredibly grateful for Michelle from NICU food from the heart and all of the businesses and people who support her. There would be days where suddenly it was 4pm and I had not eaten anything for the day. Being able to just pop into the parents room and have something to eat from the breakfast bar was often all that kept me going throughout the day and for my husband and I sometimes all we ate before we crawled into bed or fell asleep on the couch in the evenings.
The dads nights would probably be the highlight of our week, especially my husbands and gave us something to look forward to each week. The generously donated meals would also be by far the most delicious, enjoyable and nutritious meal of our week. On dads nights we also met other parents who became not only support whilst in the hospital but also life time friends. Dads nights gets everyone to take a breath, smile, relax and enjoy them self even if only for a few minutes.
It is really hard to articulate the difference NICU Food from the heart made in our NICU journey, I wish the tears currently running down my face could translate through this testimonial however from the very bottom of my heart I express the sincerest gratitude and appreciation to Michelle for everything that she does, she truely is the definition of an angel and also to all of the businesses and individuals that help make her vision possible.
